Keeping it Weird.

Thursday, July 7, 2011

One Saturday night, we got crazy and decided to join thousands of other crazy people for the Keep Austin Weird 5K to benefit the Long Center for the Performing Arts.  It was blazing hot, and about half the people were dressed in costume. We left our capes in the stroller (too hot for us!), but I wore my running skirt (sorry, no pics since I was the one with the camera) and Big Sister wore her clover applique shirt.

The kids started off in strollers, but Big Sister quickly insisted on running and Little Brother followed.

Next thing I knew, we were chasing Big Sister and yelling for her to SLOW DOWN.

Little Brother did his best to catch up.

Big Sister probably ran a mile, and she would have kept going if we'd let her.  Little Brother ran a little less than that.  I'm proud to say that we did not finish last.  Thanks to a home-stretch surge powered by Amy's Ice Cream, we passed some other families at the end.

We're already thinking about costumes for next year's run!
